The youth of San Clemente will get a chance to show off their surfing skills at the upcoming San Clemente Surf Classic.
The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce will be hosting the surfing competition for the second year. Boys and girls under the age of 18 will be competing in shortboard, longboard, and beater divisions.
All competitors must live in the city of San Clemente. Over 200 young people are expected to complete. Sponsors must also have businesses within the city limits. They will promote their services and products during the all-day event.
The boys and girls shortboard divisions will be divided by age. Longboard divisions for both boys and girls will be open to all ages under 18. The Beater Division will be open to all girls and boys under the age of 18 also.
A street-wide banner placed on El Camino Real will be promoting the San Clemente Surf Classic. Local newspapers, social media, and the Chamber of Commerce website will also be spreading the information.
Dave Schulte, a well-known voice in competitive surfing, will be the announcer. All division 1st through 6th place finishers will receive awards.
The competition will be Sunday, October 16 at T-Street Beach, 339 W. Paseo De Cristobal, San Clemente. Competition will start at 7:00 am and wrap up around 5:00 pm. Registration is required and will run $40 per division and $30 for the Beater Division.
