Casa Romantica Cultural Center will host a performance of Shakespeare’s The Tempest next month. Residents from San Clemente are welcome to join and watch.
The Tempest tells of the wizard Prospero and his daughter Miranda, who have lived stranded on a deserted island. Their fates change when Prospero's brother's ship crash lands and Miranda falls in love with one of its passengers, Prince Ferdinand.
Casa Romantica will be decorated to match the setting of the play. The performance will be put on by the Southern California Shakespeare Festival Guild, and Sam Robinson will be its director. The scenes will also be presented in the style of a promenade. Entrants can ask the guild to exchange Business Cards if they want to be updated on future performances.
Performances will take place on June 17 and 18, with performances starting at 7:00 PM on both evenings. Tickets are $30 for the general public and $25 for members. Students can also purchase tickets for $12 if they use the code STUDENT21. Attendees can find Casa Romantica on 415 Avenida Granada.
The center will also give a limited chance to watch a backstage performance of the play on June 16. This special performance is limited to 10 people, and attendees will have a chance to meet and greet the actors afterward.
