Standup for the Cure honored at 2012 SUP Awards

Standup for the Cure, a not-for-profit organization that helps raise funds for the Susan G. Komen For the Cure affiliate in Orange County, was recently honored at the Standup Paddleboard Industry (SUP) Awards in San Clemente.

The SUP presents the award each year to an individual or an organization that exemplifies SUP’s ability to positively impact the lives of other individuals. Standup for the Cure was recognized as the Top Philanthropic Effort of 2012 by SUP The Magazine, and was presented with the prestigious award at a ceremony held in San Clemente on Thursday, September 27. The organization was honored with the award as a result of its support and fundraising efforts in connection with finding a cure for cancer.

Non-profit organizations, as well as others who organize and conduct fundraising efforts, often utilize the services of local Print companies to assist in spreading awareness about the cause or causes they support. They may use brochure printing, pamphlets, or other printed media in an effort to provide individuals with information about the organization, events, fundraising efforts, or other activities.

The 2012 SUP Awards in San Clemente were held just as paddlers and athletes from all over the nation gathered for the Annual Battle of the Paddle, which is a SUP-sponsored event. Zane Schweitzer, an ambassador for Standup for the Cure, was the winner of the 12’6” overall division of the Distance SUP race. Annabel Anderson, who is a breast cancer survivor and organizer of the annual Paddle for Hope in New Zealand, earned the overall women’s title with wins in both SUP women’s events.
