The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce is gearing up for its 30th Annual San Clemente Seafest coming this weekend.
The Chowder Cook-off is always the main activity at Seafest. Two categories – individual and professional - will have teams vying for the coveted best chowder awards. Other awards will be given for best decorated individual, and restaurant cooking areas and costumes (judged on originality, as well as a People’s Choice for the crowd’s favorite chowder.
The Seafest Business Exposition will be put on by the members of local Chamber of Commerce. Marketing spaces will also be available for nonmembers. Businesses representatives will be passing out Flyers and Brochures with information about their goods and services, and some will also have free samples and coupons.
This event will include the 19th Annual Surf Contest. Children, teens and amateur adult surfers will be competing in their respective divisions for awards. An Arts and Crafts Show will feature original handcrafted work from people here in Southern California.
Teens and children will have contests for prizes for those who come in first, second, or third place. Some of the contests will be a diaper derby, a hula hoop contest, jump roping, bubble gum blowing and a tortilla toss. Children can also make beaded key chains, bracelets and necklaces, enjoy sticker art, and get their faces painted.
Seafest will be this Sunday, October 1 from 9:30 am until 3:00 pm at San Clemente Pier, 611 Avenida Victoria, San Clemente.
