The San Clemente Garden Club will present its annual “Gardenfest” in a few weeks. Admission will be free and all ages will be welcome.
This is the time for everyone to get those plants for both their flower and vegetable gardens at the traditional plant sale. A garden flea market will offer all the paraphernalia needed to showcase lawns and gardens. Guests can have their tools sharpened by master gardeners. Many may want to get their Business Cards for more or later tool sharpening.
There will be multiple demonstrations on sustainable garden practices. Some of the exhibits will also pass out information about local communal gardens such as the School Garden Programs and garden-related opportunities.
Two contests are open to the public. One will be designing a “funky container” while the other theme will be “floral design.” Those interested in entering the container design challenge are asked to repurpose unique containers other than the standard pots.
As has been the tradition in past years, San Clemente Art Association will be hosting its annual Garden and Flower Show painting competition. San Clemente Environmental Education, Water Smart Program, and Butterfly Habitat Education exhibits will have members there to discuss their programs and missions.
Children can try their hands at gardening at the many kids’ gardening activities.
Gardenfest has been scheduled for Saturday, April 13 from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm at the San Clemente Community Center, Calle Seville’s Avenida Del Mar.
