Santa’s Village by the Sea will return in just over a week, with three events taking place on the same day.
On Saturday, December 7, the City Holiday Hoopla, from 2:00 to 5:00 pm at the Community Center, 100 N. Calle Seville, will kick off the evening. Guests can expect holiday carolers, an outdoor movie from 5:30 until 9:00 pm, cookie decorating, sledding from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm on a snow hill, and holiday games. A gingerbread house contest will be new this year, and Santa will make an appearance.
The festivities continue from 5:00 pm to 7:30 pm at Christmas at the Casa. Entry to Casa Romantica will be free and Santa will hurry over from City Holiday Hoopla to this event to be with the children here. The little ones can make crafts and everyone can sip on hot chocolate. The cultural center and gardens will be decorated for the holidays and there will be a bell choir. The Casa Tree Lighting will be at 5:15 pm.
Meanwhile, the Downtown Business Association will be hosting its annual Puttin’ on the Glitz from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm along Avenida Del Mar. Some activities will be carriage and train rides, a Silent Disco, live music and entertainment, and plenty of holiday shopping.
Cities that put on holiday events such as this get pictures of the activities and use them in the following year’s visitor brochure printing.
