San Clemente Pier hosts The Greatest Show on Surf

The San Clemente Ocean Festival is coming next month. The event is to promote and support the environment, ocean safety and our community.

The first day will begin with the annual Stand-up Paddleboard Surfing Championships followed by the Children’s Fishing Clinic and a fishing derby. The Lifeguard Pancake Breakfast will be running all morning. Also during the morning will be the Dolphin Dash which will be a kid’s beach run. The Woody Car exhibit and the Lifeguard competitions will also begin in the morning. There will also be an art show, body surfing clinics and performances in the Youth Pavilion. The free concert and beach party will be the evening’s entertainment.

The second day will include a surf contest, Sculpture Team Competition, 5K Beach Run and the Biathlon (5K run, 1K swim). Next will be the Mile Ocean Swim, SUP Sprint races, a River-swim Run and a Splash and Dash relay - one swimmer and one runner. Festivities will end with the 24th Annual Great Rubber Duck Race.

Crafts and activities such as relays, games, demonstrations and the Mermaid Parade will be available to entertain the little ones.

The event is scheduled for July 16th and 17th at the San Clemente Pier. Breakfast will begin at 7:00 am, and the evening’s concert will end at 8:00 pm.
