The San Clemente Art Association is getting ready for its 17th Annual Paint San Clemente event coming in late June.
The Plein Air painting event will have four segments. The first will be a one-day Quick Draw Competition. Artists will paint original works outdoors in the open air from the Pier along Avenida del Mar. The artwork will be available for sale after the results of the competition.
Other artists will be setting up their easels all around San Clemente and painting outdoor scenes. These Plein Air painting artists will be competing for $8,000 in awards. Judges will be Rick Delanty (a nationally and internationally famed impressionist), Mark Jacobucci (a Plein Air painter and landscape architect), and Mark Kerchkoff (an educator and landscape painter).
The Community Center lawn will have a two-day art exhibit and sale. Many of these original works will be used at Corporate Gifts.
The finale will be the Gala, an evening of fine art, local wine and food. Scholarships will be presented to four seniors from San Clemente High School. Awards will also be given to the top 10 Plein Air artists of this year’s Paint San Clemente.
A silent auction will include original artwork, Disney tickets, hand-crafted jewelry, and Gift Certificates donated by San Clemente businesses.
Paint San Clemente is slated for tomorrow, June 23 through July 7 at the Community Center, 100 N. Calle Seville. The Gala will be at the center on Saturday, June 30, beginning at 6:30 pm.
