It’s not too soon for San Clemente surfers and other athletes to get ready for this year’s San Clemente Ocean Festival coming in the latter part of July.
The event organizers are busily getting some poster printing done now and making T-Shirts sporting this year’s graphic design. Some of the merchandise is already available at the online store, Dave Cook’s PGA Golf Shop, Hobie Surf Shop, Designs by Nature, and Denault’s Hardware.
The Lifeguard Competition will be Saturday from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm. Both men and women need to start practicing for the surf race, rescue relay, Dory races, International Ironman, paddleboard rescue relay, and the paddleboard sprint.
The 11th Annual Dolphin Dash for kids 12 years of age and under will be Saturday from 7:30 am until 8:45 am. The half mile course for kids ages 4 to 6 will begin at 9:00 am, while three-quarter-mile course for ages 7 to 9 will begin at 9:20 am, and the one-mile course for ages 10 through 12 will start at 9:40 am.
The children’s surf contest will be Saturday and Sunday, and Beach Events are scheduled for Sunday, 8:00 am until 5:00 pm. Some of these will be the adult 5K Beach Walk/run, open ocean paddle, Biathlon, one-mile ocean swim, run/swim/run, SUP sprint races, and the Splash and Dash Relay.
San Clemente Ocean Festival will be July 10 and 21 at San Clemente Pier.
