San Clemente hosts fall sea festival

The San Clemente Chamber of Commerce will be presenting its 31st Annual San Clemente Seafest early in October.

The traditional Chowder Cook-off will have local businesses, restaurants and residents concocting their best chowder for awards. A panel of judges will be choosing the first through fourth place winners in the Best Chowder Individual, Best Chowder Restaurant, Best Decorated Individual, and Restaurant. The People’s Choice award will be based on public voting, and these too will come up with a top four in individual and restaurant categories.

Fresh lobster, crab, steamed mussels, and oysters will be available for purchase too, and the 21st Annual Surf Competition will have local teens and children vying for awards.

Thousands of visitors will be swarming the Seafest Business Expo as local businesses meet and greet them with Business Cards, coupons, and Promotional Products.

An arts and crafts show will be held on the beach where local talented Southern Californians with display their original work. At events such as these, guests like to get business cards from their favorite artists and craftspeople so they can contact them later for custom work.

First, second, and third prizes will be awarded in competitions such as hula hooping, bubble gum blowing, diaper derby racing, jump roping, and tortilla tossing. Kids can get their faces painted, enjoy sticker art and make keychains, bracelets and necklaces.
