San Clemente residents are encouraged to take part in a golf tournament that will help enrich the lives of local youth. Stationery printing is likely on the rise as representatives from the Friends of San Clemente organization contact the individuals and companies who have agreed to sponsor this event, which is set to occur toward the end of the month. This will be the third straight year the fundraiser has been held.
Proceeds from the tournament will go toward a variety of programs and classes for children and teens. These include surfing, swimming, skateboarding, and dance. The funds raised will also benefit Courtney's SandCastle, a charitable foundation that has already built a playground at the Vista Hermosa Sports Park and Aquatics Center that is accessible to children with disabilities. The organization now needs help funding its second project at the park, a sensory garden for kids.
Golfers may participate in the tournament individually or in teams of four. Businesses in the area have been signing up as “platinum,” “diamond,” and “gold” sponsors for the event. Parties may also help the cause by sponsoring a tee or green or by attending the banquet dinner and awards ceremony that will take place after the tournament.
The golf fundraiser is scheduled for Friday, June 28 at the San Clemente Municipal Golf Course (150 East Avenida Magdalena). Participants will check in at 11:00 am. The tournament itself will begin at 12:30 pm, after an optional putting contest. Dinner will start at 5:30 pm.
