Dana Point will be presenting its 48th Festival of Whales the first two week-ends in March. Over 50 events are scheduled over the four-day festival.
The first Saturday will begin with the Sand Sculpting competition on Baby Beach. That will be followed by the Festival of Whales Parade along the Pacific Coast Highway. A Street Fair will begin at 10 am and the Ocean Institute Education Center will open.
Other activities starting at that time will be the Stand-up Paddling and Sailing Clinic, Art in the Park, and the Legendary Corvette. The Dana Point Fine Arts Association will start its annual Show and Sale. There will also be a Whale of a Pizza Party, a walking tour of Town Center, Harbor Music Series and a Drone Demo. Sunday will have Whale of a Breakfast, diamond dig, BBQ, kids fishing clinic and trip and harbor music.
The following Saturday will have an expo, cardboard dingy dash, beach clean-up, boat show, clam chowder cook-off and an Under Sea Eco carnival. Sunday will be a recap of some of the activities from the prior days.
Whale-watching can be done daily on the wharf, on Captain Dave’s Dolphin & Whale Watching Safari or from the Headlands Nature Interpretive Center.
