As part of this Year’s Fiesta de las Golondrinas, neighboring San Juan Capistrano will be hosting a Kids’ Pet Parade that may interest San Clemente families.
Children must be between the ages of 5 and 12, and the event will be an opportunity for families, their pets, and friends to enjoy a day together while letting the little ones and their furry or feathery friends “show their stuff”.
Children and their pets can enter contests for prizes. Categories will be Best Team (owner and pet) Costume, Best Household/Domestic Pet, Best Exotic Pet, Best Farm/Barnyard Animal, and finally Best Bird.
The special Judges’ Choice prize winner and pet will get to participate in the Swallows Day Parade that will be coming up in March. Pets of all shapes and sizes are welcome, with past winners including ponies, ducks, dogs, and potato bugs. Children and pets must be accompanied by an adult.
Registration will be $5 for each category entered; Forms can be found online, and registration will start at 10:00 am on the day of the event. Parade participants will be offered a hot lunch.
Those interested need to mark their Calendars for Saturday, February 20.The event will be at Los Rios Park, 31747 Los Rios Street, San Juan Capistrano. The parade will begin at noon.
