Summer is winding down and that means that San Clemente’s recreation department 15th Annual Beach concert series will be coming to an end this evening. The final edition of ‘Bringing the Bands to the Sand!’ series will showcase diverse band Common Sense. This last concert, like its predecessors, will be free.
Common Sense is a reggae/alternative/rock band from nearby South Laguna. Nick Hernandez, the band’s founder, sings vocals, Billy Sherman and Philip Gough play acoustic and electric guitars respectively, while Larry Young keeps a steady beat on bass and Drew Hester pounds the drums.
Despite the cooler temperatures and lower sun, the sandy beach still offers free sitting, a setting sun back drop, and the sound of the surf that will complement the evening’s entertainment. Attendees can bring chairs, blankets, sunglasses, or even a picnic if they wish. Those who prefer to purchase their food at the beach can visit the Fisherman’s Restaurant, which will once again be offering special $8 dinner plates of chicken, sourdough bread, BBQ ribs, oriental salad, and baked beans. The concert should provide an excellent opportunity for photographers who woud like to use their results for poster printing.
The concert will be held tonight, August 28, at 6:00 pm at the San Clemente Pier between the Municipal Pier and the Marine Safety HQ.
