GardenFest 2020 has been postponed from its original date of April 18 due to the COVID-19 situation, leaving organizers looking at summer or possibly later for a rearranged date.
San Clemente Community Center, 100 North Calle Seville, usually holds GardenFest 2020 in April. Hundreds of plants donated and propagated by the San Clemente Garden Club are available for sale, most of them drought-tolerant species.
When it does take place, master gardeners will be onsite offering free garden tool sharpening. Children can participate in gardening activities and local artists will have their works for sale. There will be craft demonstrations, butterfly and beekeeping displays and information regarding San Clemente’s water conservation initiatives.
South County residents can still enter the Funky Container Contest, which originally had an April 17 deadline. Attendees at the festival will vote for their favorite garden planter.
Winners of contests such as this occasionally get pictures taken of their winning creations and take the photos to their local Stationery printers to be made into springtime note cards.
The auditorium will house a home and garden flea market. The market will feature items for the home, garden, and hobbies, including crafting. Proceeds from the event will go to junior gardener programs, horticultural scholarships, and civic beautification projects.
