The San Clemente Garden Club will be presenting its annual Garden Fest early in April. The event will be free to attend.
The Fest will have a plant sale that promises to be a huge one. It will also offer a Garden Flea Market and programs like Butterfly Habitat Education, School Gardens, and San Clemente Environment Education.
The Water Smart program will offer information on current conservation of our city water, and there will be several gardening activities for the children. Local art will be on display and demonstrations will be conducted throughout the event.
Gardeners are invited to bring their favorite containers that they have designed and enter the Floral and Funky Container Design Contests. This year, one of the contests is asking the entrants to bring objects that can be converted into plant containers. Another competition will be San Clemente Art Association’s Garden and Flower Show painting competition. Winners of all the contests will want to have their pictures taken for future poster printing, and for any Brochures or Flyers that the club can used for next year’s event.
The Fest will be from 8:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, April 8, at the San Clemente Community Center Auditorium, 100 N. Calle Seville at the corner of Avendida Del Mar and Seville. Proceeds from the event will go to civic beautification, junior gardeners, and horticultural scholarships.
