Hometown boy returns for a Christmas special

Mike Chamberlin, originally from San Clemente, has scheduled 53 performances of his one-man-show across the country this month, one of which is a stop here in town.

Chamberlin will play holiday favorites, as well as some original songs, during his show, which he calls ‘A Cabrillo Christmas.’

Chamberlin has been a sports anchor, a news anchor, and has worked in Sacramento, Los Angeles, Monterey, and San Francisco, but has said that music has always been his first love. He not only sings and plays his acoustic guitar, but he also tells stories.

One of his CDs is primarily a compilation of personal stories, such as ‘Because of Black Tooth’, ‘Bad to Me’ and ‘Mr. Radio’ though some include spirituals and classic songs such as ‘Over the Rainbow’ and ‘Mary Did You Know?’

The entertainer has released a holiday CD called ‘Mike Chamberlin’s Christmas Collection’, and this is bound to form the basis of some of this performance. Along with traditional holiday songs like ‘Silent Night’, Chamberlin will sing some of his original tunes, such as ‘Lets Finish What He Started’, ‘Christmas is Coming’, and ‘Christmas Came Early this Year’. Attendees may want to take pictures for later postcard printing.

The performance will be held at 7:00 pm this Friday, December 19, at the Caibrillo Playhouse, 202 Avenida Cabrillo, San Clemente.
