San Clemente Ocean Festival is being presented in mid-July.
The two-day festival will offer its traditional athletic events, including the one-mile swim, dory boat races, the 5K beach run, Groms Rule Surf and Tandem Boogie Board contests, and the kids’ Dolphin Dash beach run.
Some competitions will be the Lifeguard and Beach events and the Pier Bowl Surf Classic. The beach events will be the 5K walk, Open Ocean Paddle, biathlon, SUP Sprint races, and the Splash and Dash Relay.
Clif Kid will sponsor the 11 Annual Dolphin Run for kids under 13 years old. Everyone will receive finisher medals, and the run will be divided into three age and distance divisions.
The Youth Pavilion will have all-day activities both days, jujitsu and hula demonstrations, and musical performances. The Mermaid Parade will be Sunday at 9:00 am.
Other youth and family events will include the annual Fishing Derby, sand sculpting contest, free beach concert, Ocean Art Show and Woodie car exhibits. There will also be Children’s fishing and body surfing clinics. The final event will be the Great Rubber Duck Race, Sunday at 3:30 pm.
Denault’s Hardware at 535 N. El Camino Real will carry merchandise sporting this year’s San Clemente Ocean Festival graphic design.
San Clemente Ocean Festival will run from July 18 through 19 at the San Clemente Pier, 615 Avenida Victoria. Events will start at 8:00 am.
