Gardenfest attracts plant enthusiasts

The San Clemente Garden Club's Annual is an example of community engagement in gardening and sustainability.

This event, free to the public and welcoming to families, offers a host of activities centered around gardening, sustainability, and local flora. The highlight of Gardenfest includes a plant sale and a garden flea market, where attendees can browse and purchase a diverse range of plants, from garden staples to rare finds, catering to both seasoned gardeners and novices alike.

A significant focus of the event is on educating the public about sustainable gardening practices. Through various exhibits and demonstrations, Gardenfest promotes environmentally-friendly gardening techniques that attendees can implement in their own gardens, such as water conservation methods and creating habitats to support local wildlife, particularly pollinators like butterflies.

Gardenfest also encourages community participation through its open contests, including the 'funky container' and 'floral design' competitions, allowing individuals to showcase their creativity in gardening. The San Clemente Art Association collaborates with Gardenfest to host a Garden and Flower Show painting competition, further bridging the gap between horticulture and the arts. Banner printing can often be seen at big events.

Through its diverse offerings and educational opportunities, Gardenfest underscores the importance of environmental stewardship and the joy of gardening, reflecting the San Clemente Garden Club's commitment to these values.

The San Clemente Garden Club's Annual Gardenfest is scheduled for April 13th at the San Clemente Community Center.
