Fall to be festival time in San Clemente

In a couple of months, The Friends of San Clemente Foundation will once again be hosting its Carnival Colossal & Fall Food Truck Festival.

As in the past, there will be rides, food trucks, live entertainment, all those favorite carnival games, and vendor booths. Both admission and parking will be free.

Last year’s food court had 10 food vendors, and this year’s organizers are promising more.

Also this event will include Scottish Strong Man competitions. Spectators will get to witness bouts of strength such as the Press Medley, where competitors will be required to lift a 100kg block, a 75kg dumbbell, a 135kg axle and a 150kg log, and the weights must be lifted in that order. Also, the competitors will lift deadweights starting at 10 kg and increasing by 15-20 kg at each rep. Other activities may include pulling a bus and a carry and drag. Pictures taken during these events may make interesting subjects for later poster printing, showing off these feats of power and strength.

The festival will be Thursday, October 8 through Sunday, October 11. The venue will be across from Target at Vista Hermosa Sports Park, 987 Avenida Vista Hermosa, San Clemente. Hours will be Thursday 5:00pm to 10:00pm, Friday 5:00pm until midnight, Saturday noon until midnight, and Sunday noon until 10:00pm.
