City to celebrate the Greatest Show on Surf

Summer is well underway and this year’s San Clemente Ocean Festival will be teeming with competitions and activities for both adults and children.

Local men, women, and youth athletes will want to enter the SPORT OF KINGS SUP Race or the ‘Grum’s Rule’ surf contest.

Those who would prefer to participate in less strenuous competitions may want to enter the sand sculpture team contest. Everyone will be eating pancakes, plus all the accoutrements at the City Lifeguards’ Pancake Breakfast, and can see the Woody Car Exhibit.

There will also be lifeguard competitions, an ocean art show, and free body surfing clinics. Local photographers will want to get some good action shots for possible future poster printing.

Kids who are aged between four and twelve are able to attend the Children’s Fishing Clinic, and then follow that activity up by entering the Fishing Derby. They can also enter the DOLPHIN DASH Kids’ Beach Run. At the Youth Pavilion, they can play carnival games, make crafts at the booths maintained by Ocean Institute and Clif Kid, and get Youth ID Cards.

This Festival will be topped off with a beach party and a free concert featuring “THE CHOLULAS”, and is scheduled for July 18th, between 6:30am and 6:30pm, and July 19th, from 6:30am to 5:30pm at the San Clemente Pier.
