Anyone looking for a good walking workout and a day in the sun can consider golfing for a good cause in a couple of weeks.
For the third year in a row, Sunstone Hotel Investors are inviting San Clemente players to the Driving Dreams Golf Tournament. For 29 years, this tournament has been held to benefit the Boys and Girls Clubs of the South Coast Area.
On the day, 144 players will begin the tournament in a four-person scramble format. Participants will enjoy contests and games on specified holes. Hole-in-one contests will be held on four of the holes, and prizes up for grabs will be Cleveland Golf black pearl irons, a Kindle Fire, $10,000, and a $500 Visa gift card.
Contests on specified prize holes will require feats such as shooting for birdie, straightest drive, longest drive, closest to the pin, ball in circle, and beating a professional. There will also be a silent auction, and awards will be given during the gourmet dinner held later that evening at the Wedgewood Clubhouse.
The event is still looking for sponsors, who will need to get their application in before the personalized signage and brochure ads go to printing companies.
The tournament will be held Friday, June 6, starting at 11:00 am at the San Clemente Golf Club.
