The City Council for Big Bear Lake held a meeting where the board voted on whether to hire Sund. The vote ended 4-1 in favor of appointing Sund. He is expected to receive a salary worth $265,000 a year along with benefits that include sick leave, paid vacation, and health insurance. Executives tend to enlist business card printing services when they start new roles.
Sund’s tenure with Big Bear Lake will start on September 19th. When asked for comment, Sund sent an email response where he said:
“I have nothing but love for the San Clemente community. It has been an extreme honor to serve this City for almost nine years. I am extremely grateful for the opportunity I was afforded to serve as its City Manager.”
Sund’s move to Big Bear Lake is coming barely a year after the San Clemente City Council voted in favor of promoting Sund to the position of chief executive. Sund had been working for San Clemente since 2013 when he was hired to serve as assistant city manager. He took on the role of San Clemente’s city manager on an interim basis after the council voted against extending Robert Dunek’s contract. Mayor Gene James commented to say that Sund served the city well and he will be missed.
