Annual Ocean Festival returns to San Clemente waterfront

The San Clemente Pier will once again host the yearly Ocean Festival this July.

The event includes an international lifeguard competition, as well as a junior version of the same contest. A Dolphin Dash, surf contests for adults and youth, a one-mile swim contest, a 5K beach run, and a combination run and swim biathlon will also take place.

The winners of this year’s Ocean Festival T-shirt design contest have been announced as Dirk Murset and Paul Graff.

Organizers of the event tout it as “The Greatest Show on Surf,” with the Ocean Festival attracting 50,000 visitors each year.

The sponsors for this year’s festival include the San Clemente Journal, the Gibbs Law Firm, Dana Wharf Sportsfishing, Triton Air and Plumbing, HOAG Health San Clemente, and the Fisherman’s Restaurant and Bar.

The Ocean Festival is run by a non-profit organization overseen by a board of volunteers. Community festivals like this may choose to use graphic design services for marketing materials.

The 47th Annual Ocean Festival is happening on the July 19 and 20 weekend at the San Clemente Pier. The pier itself has limited parking so there is a free parking lot participants can use for the event at the San Clemente High School at 700 Avenida Pico, which includes shuttle buses. Public transportation via Metrolink is also available.
