One of the world's greatest musical ensembles will give a concert in Rohnert Park, albeit on a virtual basis.
The Green Music Center at Sonoma State University is hosting the Julliard String Quartet, which the Boston Globe once called “the most important American quartet in history.” Established in 1946, the group is deeply committed to classical music, but is also a force for supporting new works.
The members will discuss their careers, life in the group, and how they are coping with the pandemic. They also plan on sharing some of their favorite performances, which include one movement from three works: The String Quartet in A minor, Op. 51, No. 2 by Brahms; a work commissioned in the 1970s especially for the quartet, “Ainsi La Nuit (Thus the Night),” by Dutilleux; and “The Hunt” from the String Quartet No. 17 in B-flat major, K. 458 by Mozart.
The concert is scheduled for November 15, at 300 pm, when it will be live streamed. Tickets are $10, and are good for as many people as would like to watch. The email link to the event will be sent two days before the concert, including information as to how to join the stream. Ticket buyers can watch on any device that connects to the internet, and the program will be available for 48 hours after the live stream ends. Flyer printing could be used to create pamphlets for targeted Mailing to advertise events like this.
