Acclaimed quiz show buzzes into Rohnert Park

Rohnert Park’s Green Music Center is hosting the National Public Radio quiz show Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me! This July.

The Peabody Award-winning show, often featuring stand-up comedians in the hot seat, focuses on trivia surrounding current events presented in a humorous tone.

With a focus on a roundup of the week’s news, Peter Sagal hosts a panel that changes week to week, be they pop culture celebrities, famous writers, or comedians. Contestants are all fighting for the prize of a custom voicemail message uttered by one of the famous guest hosts.

Each episode of Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me! Is recorded in front of a live audience. That raw audio file is then edited down to remove any inappropriate content or superfluous material so that it is ready to air on NPR. The live show offers a glimpse into what can sometimes be a messy process, where audiences can experience all the hilarity as it unfolds in the moment.

Live quiz shows like this may choose to use Stationery printing to create scorecards, question-and-answer sheets, and rule lists.

Wait Wait... Don’t Tell Me! is happening on Thursday, July 30 at 7:30 pm at the Weill Hall and Lawn of the Green Music Center of Sonoma State University at 1801 E Cotati Ave in Rohnert Park. Tickets went on sale yesterday (May 7).
