The written word can inspire the creation of music, and vice versa, which is the running theme of the forthcoming Shakespeare in Music concert at the Green Music Center in Rohnert Park this May.
The Santa Rosa Symphony and conductor Francesco Lecce-Chong will lead pianist Claire Huangci and actor Nicola Vann as they explore the works of William Shakespeare, as imagined by classical musicians.
From Samuel Coleridge-Taylor’s Incidental Music from Othello to Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s renditions of Hamlet and Romeo and Juliet, the evening is filled with selective works from the various narrative-inspired scores.
A bonus to the concert includes Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s Concerto No. 20 in D minor for Piano and Orchestra, a work that, while not inspired by Shakespeare, served as inspiration itself for the next musical generation; No. 20 was a favored work of Ludwig Van Beethoven, musical historians have noted. The piece represents Huangci’s debut on piano in Weill Hall.
Classical concerts like this may choose to use printing services to create Copies of written music for symphonies.
