Chart-topping jazz quartet performing in Rohnert Park
Rohnert Park will welcome the Kronos Quartet this October.
For decades, the quartet has been a pioneering group in the realm of alternative jazz. The back catalogue of the Kronos Quartet’s albums under Nonesuch, their longtime record label, is the focus of this performance, in a set called Nonesuch and Nonetheless. It’s all to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the Nonesuch label.
The performance will also feature new work from Aleksandra Vrebalov, Charlton Singleton, and Peni Candra Rini, as well as cellist Paul Wiancko’s new arrangements.
In addition, the Kronos Quartet will perform from some of their classic records, including “Cadenca on the Night Plain” by Terry Riley and the song “Sinaloense” from the album Nuevo.
David Harrington, a violinist, is a founding member of the group and still performs with them to this day. Ayane Kozasa and Gabriela Diaz are the newest members, who join both Harrington and Wiancko.
The concert has a retro-futuristic theme, as it at once relives classics from the group’s past while also presenting something new, both in the form of novel material and the new Kronos Quartet members.
Musical performances like this may choose to use stationery printers for music sheets, set lists, and event signs.
Kronos Quartet’s Nonesuch and Nonetheless performance is happening on Saturday, October 18 at 7:30 pm at the Green Music Center’s Weill Hall in Rohnert Park.
