Rohnert Park’s Spreckles Performing Arts Center is presenting Seussical this May.
The musical adaptations based on the works of children’s author Dr. Seuss, real name Theodor Geisel, combine favorite characters such as the Cat in the Hat and Horton the Elephant, all in one show.
With music by Stephen Flaherty and lyrics by Lynn Ahrens, the original Broadway run of Seussical debuted in 2000, scooping up award nominations along the way, including a Tony Award Nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for Kevin Chamberlin. By the end of its New York run in mid-2001, the musical had grossed more than $12m.
Featuring pop musical numbers and colorful visuals, the story in Seussical centers on friends, courage, making dreams come true, and finding the simple joys in life. Ticket prices for Seussical range from $16 to $44, with special discounts offered for residents of Rohnert Park.
With more than two decades in operation, the Spreckles Performing Arts Center is located in a key arts corridor of Rohnert Park Expressway, adjacent to other venues such as the Green Music Center of Sonoma State University. Musicals like this may choose to use banner printing for vendor Signs, stage decorations, or marquees.
Seussical is happening at the Spreckels Performing Arts Center at 5409 Snyder Ln in Rohnert Park. The shows run from Fridays through Sundays, May 1 to 17, with the Friday performances held at 7:30 pm, and the Saturday and Sunday performances being matinees at 2:00 pm.
