Rohnert Park hosts gaming event for teens

A Nintendo Switch 2-focused Mario Kart tournament for teens is being held at the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library this December.

The event is for those under 18 years old, with no sign-up required. Participants are also allowed to bring their own consoles and controllers.

Even as the original Nintendo Switch is on the verge of becoming the best-selling gaming console of all time, its successor, the Switch 2 is already breaking sales records of its own.

Released earlier this year, the Nintendo Switch 2 has already sold 10.36 million consoles, as of the end of September. That marks the biggest launch of any console, selling more than double that of its successor in the first two quarters.

The Nintendo Switch 2 launched with a sequel to one of its most popular franchises with Mario Kart World. Its predecessor, Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, sold over 60 million copies on the previous system.

The new game takes the kart racing formula on the open road, as Mario Kart World is indeed an open-world game, with all the tracks interconnected in a giant map, a first for the series.

Gaming events like this may choose to use printing services to create tournament brackets, game equipment inventories or promotional posters.

The Nintendo Switch 2: Mario Kart Tournament is happening on December 15 in the meeting room of the Rohnert Park-Cotati Regional Library at 6250 Lynne Conde Way in Rohnert Park.
