Rohnert Park celebrates Pacific culture

The Filipino American Association of Sonoma State University (FAASSU) is preparing for the 2016 Pacific Culture Night at the end of this month. The event combines traditional dancing and music into one unforgettable celebration.

Many of the most popular dances from various Pacific Island traditions – like those from Tahiti, the Philippines, and New Zealand – will be featured. The Tinkling, Sayaw Sa Bangko, Maglalatik, and the Hula, will be among those performed at the show. The dancing will be done by members of the FAASSU, as well as guest dance groups the Tribe, the Blue Baronz Dance Club, and others.

The event is about more than just the dancing; the performance will also include traditional costumes and traditional music from many different Pacific cultures, some of which will be performed live on stage.

There will also be a raffle with some interesting prizes. The performance includes a number of games that invite the audience to participate in the action. This is the seventh time this event has been performed in Rohnert Park.

The 2016 Pacific Culture Night will be held on April 29 from 7:00 to 10:30 pm at the Green Music Center located at 1801 E. Cotati Ave. Admission to the event is free, though raffle tickets must be purchased at the show. Anyone interested in more information should check the Flyers or visit the website.
