Rohnert Park and the areas that surround it is home to some rare amphibians and reptiles, including the California tiger salamander. Resource managers, biologist, students and others who are interested in the future of these species may want to make sure they are part of a symposium that will be offered late this March.
Three days have been allocated for the Laguna de Santa Rosa Foundation’s CTS Terrestrial Ecology and Rare Pond Species series of workshops, and each day will have both a lecture and field visit component. Registration includes both breakfast and a light lunch, but the learners are responsible for their own supper and night-time lodging.
There will be three species that will be the focus of this event, and these include the red legged frog, the California tiger salamander and the western pond turtle. The learners will discover the biology, life cycle and ecology of the creatures, and there will also be a discussion about their long-term outlook and the laws that surround their protection. In the afternoon, the field trip will give them a chance to get hands on experience, and a visit to a CTS highway tunnel system has also been planned.
The cost to participate in this educational opportunity will depend upon which workshops are selected. Training manuals, promotional Pens and Notebooks and other items for this type of function can be prepared by a Print shop.
The salamander workshop will be taking place on March 29th, while the rare species classes will be held on March 30th and 31st. The venue for the activities can be found at 900 Sanford Road in Santa Rosa.
