Pet licensing and fire services among points discussed in council meeting

The Cotati City Council went over numerous issues, including some that will affect Rohnert Park, at its meeting earlier this month.

The Sonoma County Fire Chiefs Association appeared at the meeting to go over the proposed Fire Services Sales Tax scheduled to be decided on by the public in March ballot. The council also reviewed the public’s feedback on the Community Center's window replacement and repair of the pavement on Myrtle Avenue. The council even had time to take a look at a financial report of Rohnert Park's operations over the first quarter since the fiscal year started.

Pet owners will be interested in the approval of a pet licensing agreement with Rohnert Park. The agreement is a partnership between Rohnert Park and Cotati that aims to make it easier for lost pets to be returned to their owners. Under the new agreement, lost or abandoned pets discovered in Cotati will be taken to the Rohnert Park Animal Shelter. The city will issue dog permits to assist in identifying missing pets and getting them back to their owners. Permits tend to feature the Logo Design of the issuing authority on them.

Given that Cotati and Rohnert Park share boundaries, the cities have been exploring working together on a single system that will be simple for citizens to use and less costly for the city to run, while also providing an easy process for reuniting owners with their pets regardless of the city in which the lost pet is located.
