New Orleans-style music on the way to Rohnert Park

Rohnert Park will be the place to be soon for people who like the music of New Orleans.

Take Me To The River: New Orleans Live is coming to Weill Hall soon, giving people a chance to enjoy the music of the ‘Big Easy’. The performers who make up the event include the Lost Bayou Ramblers, Big Chief Monk Boudreaux, Walter “Wolfman” Washington, George Porter Jr., Ian Neville, Ivan Neville, and the Dirty Dozen Brass Band.

The Dirty Dozen Brass Band is based in New Orleans, and was founded more than 40 years ago. The group has blended traditional band music with other genres including soul, rhythm and blues, funk, and bebop jazz. The band has toured in over 30 countries, and recorded 12 albums in the studio.

Ian and Ivan Neville, brothers, have appeared with such artists as the Rolling Stones, and on the Late Show with David Letterman. They are mainstays in the funk scene in New Orleans. Walter “Wolfman” Washington is a guitarist who has backed some of New Orleans' best performers, before he founded his own group, The Roadmasters. They have been popular since they first appeared in the 1980s.

The event starts at 7:30 pm this Friday, October 25, at Weill Hall at Green Music Center in Rohnert Park. Poster printing can be used to publicize events like this.
