Morning of fleecy fun planned for Rohnert Park residents

While most know that wool comes from sheep, they may not be aware of the process involved in converting fleece into a cozy sweater.

Those who live in Rohnert Park and would like to discover how this is done have been invited to head to Windrush Farm Fiber Arts for a morning with the sheep and other animals that call the location home.

Members of the public are welcome to spend the morning touring the farm and finding out how wool is spun into yarn that can then be made into clothing and other textiles. There will be a spinning demonstration, and this is just a small part of the fun to be had.

Guests at the event will be invited to meet the cow, chickens, goats, and sheep that call Windrush home. They can even feed the sheep, and a visit to the farm’s pond has also been planned. Here, the visitors will learn about some of the wild animals that can be found in the area, and they may even be able to spot a turtle or two.

An event like this gives people an opportunity to learn more about the practice of raising sheep for wool on a small scale. A large sign can be prepared by a local printing services company to greet the guests when they arrive.

The visit to Windrush Farm Fiber Arts will be offered on May 4. It is located at 2263 Chileno Valley Road in Petaluma.
