The session was formally called to order and began with a roll call, land recognition, and a recitation of the pledge of allegiance.
Meetings are streamed via Zoom, allowing Rohnert Park community members to participate remotely if they cannot attend in person. However, there were some technical issues during the first 30 minutes of the conference. Once Zoom reconnected, and the community members were allowed to join in the meeting and provide public feedback via the video calling platform.
After her first meeting, Mayor Sparks said:
βIt was an eventful meeting β a bit of a trial by fire with some technical issues. I was very grateful for all the residents who passionately voiced their opinions.β
To address the technological challenges at the start of the meeting, Mayor Sparks declared that the scheduled votes on main items would be postponed until the following meeting, when attendees may provide public feedback via Zoom or appear in person. Minutes from meetings like this can be shared using printing services.
Agenda items related to the consent calendar had to be rescheduled for the next meeting, which will be held towards the end of this month. Also delayed until then is a public hearing that intends to examine a resolution allowing the development of 35 single-family dwellings at 8841 Old Redwood Highway.
