Quest Science will host an online conversation on how to develop a career in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics).
The event is called “Paving the Way, A Virtual Conversation” and will be open to Pleasanton and Livermore residents. Flyer printing is often used to promote such events.
Four women with backgrounds in STEM will describe their career journeys and discuss how they have succeeded. The speakers for the event are Pat Falcone, Nan Ho, Camille Schrier, and Jayshree Seth; Falcone and Seth work as engineers, Ho is a biologist, and Schrier is a biochemist.
Moderating the event will be Susan Houghton, a journalist and member of Quest’s advisory board. Each speaker will go over how they entered their respective STEM field and what obstacles they have had to overcome.
The speakers will teach the importance of critical thinking, ways to foster diversity in the workforce, and why failure is crucial to self-improvement. Event organizers hope entrants will learn new insights, allowing them to develop their own successful STEM careers.
The event will take place on December 1 between 4:00 PM and 5:30 PM. Tickets can be bought at Quest Science’s website. General admission will be $15 per person, while entry for students will be free. All proceedings from the event will be used to support Quest Science’s programs and outreach.
