Pleasanton area theater to focus on fermentation

Livermore Valley Arts will host a fermentation-themed reception and art exhibit this August.

The reception will kick off a juried art show with various works themed around fermentation and distillation. The event’s goal is to celebrate the art of fermenting through both culinary and visual arts. Attendees will be able to sample food and beverages fitting the theme, with several wine, beer and sourdough bread companies offering tastings. Artist Ben Stolorow will be playing live music throughout the afternoon. Painted wine barrels and other works of art will be displayed in the gallery. The event is free to attend and welcomes the general public, including residents of Pleasanton and other nearby towns. Those interested can visit the Livermore Valley Arts website to learn about other upcoming events.

Wine will be provided by Big White House Winery/John Evans Cellars, 3 Steves Winery, and Retzlaff Vineyards. Local breweries including Altamont Beer Works, Shadow Puppet Brewing Company, and Homegrown Hops Brewing will offer beer tastings. Wingen Bakery will have sourdough bread available for tasting and will be giving an educational presentation on the fermenting process. Businesses represented at this type of event often offer their Business Cards to interested attendees.

The reception will take place on Saturday, August 6, from 1:00 pm to 3:30 pm at the UNCLE Credit Union Art Gallery at the Bankhead Theater.
