Non-profit organization to call time on anthology submissions

The Pens and Paints Foundation, a non-profit organization ran by local high school students, will finish accepting literary pieces and artwork next month for its Eunoia Art Competition.

Submissions will be selected and featured in Eunoia: Beautiful Thinking, an annual anthology published each Spring. The anthology aims to recognize young artists in Pleasanton, particularly those in grades K-8. The theme for this year’s anthology is “boundless,” and all submissions must adhere to the theme in some way.

Pandemic conditions mean Pens and Paints will publish the anthology digitally this year. Each submission will be looked at by a team of judges, and entrants will be notified if their work is included. Only a select number of works will be included in the anthology.

Pens and Paints also has some basic guidelines for submissions. Written works must be formatted as PDF files and cannot exceed 1,000 words. For artwork, entrants must take a cropped photo of their work and submit it as a PNG. Stationery printers can help with producing photos and providing materials needed for creating submissions.

The deadline for submissions is April 7, and entrants will be notified of their status by the middle of April. The anthology will be published around the middle of May. Anyone interested in sending their work can fill out a submission on Pen and Paints’ website.
