Betty Taylor and Sarah Holtzclaw, two women from the Tri-Valley area, recently completed the last three miles of the “Run Pleasanton” challenge.
They started the challenge in 2015 and, according to Taylor, have seen parts of the city that they did not know existed. They have been able to look at the various landscaping, architecture, and painting themes across the many neighborhoods in the city.
There are over 200 miles of streets in Pleasanton. The runners have finished 60 races of different parts of the city since they started the challenge and have covered more than 355 miles. The runs started on the west side of the city and then moved eastward, with each run between 4 and 10 miles.
Holtzclaw said that sometimes it was a challenge to make sure they covered every public street as some streets had to be run twice and others were cul de sacs. Taylor added that about 15 friends of theirs have supported them at various points in the challenge to help keep them motivated. They called their supporters the “Tri-Valley Running Chicks.”
The idea for accepting this challenge came from a friend of theirs who ran every street in Dublin.
