Celebration to kick off holiday season

The Hometown Holiday Celebration is taking place in Pleasanton early next month.

The event is set to feature an afternoon and evening of fun for the entire family. The main draw of the celebration is likely to be the holiday parade that will begin at 5:00 pm at the Main Street bridge and travel down Main Street to Abbie Street. Anyone in the community can participate in the parade, but need to apply by this Friday, November 20.

The parade will feature the usual variety of marching bands, community groups, floats, and music, all with a festive theme. It will also herald the arrival of Santa Claus to the city.

Later on, Mayor Jerry Thorne will host the Tree Lighting Ceremony in front of the museum. This will be followed by entertainment from local groups and musicians, and the chance to visit Santa.

It is likely that several Pleasanton businesses will choose to participate in the parade. Many will no doubt contact local banner printing services to provide Banners to hand on their floats, either with the business name or a festive greeting printed on the front.

The Hometown Holiday Celebration will be held on Main Street on December 5 from 3:30 pm - 7:30 pm. To find out more, or to volunteer to take part in the parade, contact Michelle Dunaway at 925-931-5352.
