Bay Area realtors celebrate their own

Last month, the Bay East Association of Realtors’ (BEAR) activity took on a more social bent with its Inaugral Gala, held at Pleasanton's Casa Real.

From the outside, real estate may seem like a solitary profession, with individual realtors in competition more often than co-operation. However, there is a fraternity among real estate agents, who can relate to each other on both a professional and social level. In the Bay Area, this takes the form of the Pleasanton-based BEAR. The association provides training and education for new realtors as well as resources on markets and business forces for current professionals.

In addition to selecting the Association's leadership team for the next year, the Gala featured awards celebrating the best of Bay Area real estate. With categories like Rookie of the Year and the Outstanding Leader Award, it could almost be mistaken for the year-end awards held by sports leagues like the NHL and NBA. Anne McKereghan took home the top prize, Realtor of the Year, while Rachna Rajan and Mike Fracisco were honored for their contributions to the community.

Social events like this can allow real estate agents to let off steam with people who understand their points. More importantly, however, such events can also be a venue for forming serious business relationship. In a business where business card printing and Promotional Products are essentials, getting ones' name out there and networking with other professionals can be the difference between success and failure.
