Unique journal workshop dreamed up in Palm Desert

Palm Desert residents who want to learn more about how their unconscious mind works are invited to a Dream Journal Workshop at the Galen.

The four-part class taking place over the course of the month is organized by the Artists Council. The purpose of the workshop is to reflect on the self, and to use art to track and analyze dreams.

Professional artist Judy Nemer Sklar teaches the course, which involves participants starting with a plain book that will be used to fill creative exercises that mirror one’s life. Each class will make use of unique materials and lessons provided by the instructor.

Nemer Sklar works at the Palm Springs Unified School District as an artist in residence. In addition, she is involved in the community with a number of initiatives at the intersection of art and wellness.

A published writer, Nemer Sklar is currently pursuing her second Master’s degree in Mental Health Counseling for art therapy. As an artist, she has won juried art awards and has been shown in many gallery shows over the years.

Journal workshops like these may choose to use printing services to help with assets for the Journals.

Self-Reflection: A Dream Journal Workshop is happening on Wednesday, June 4 from 10:30 am to 1:00 pm at the Artists Center at the Galen in Palm Desert at 72567 Hwy 111. Tickets can be purchased online and range from $21 to $44.
