Orchestral jazz-pop band takes stage in Palm Desert

  • 2026-02-09
The McCallum Theatre in Palm Desert is hosting Pink Martini this March.

With its blend of pop reimagined in an orchestral arrangement, classical and jazz music, Pink Martini has made a name for itself ever since its founding in Portland, Oregon in 1994.

While they’re well known among jazz enthusiasts in the United States, Pink Martini has been especially successful in France. Their song Sympathique was not only popular in the European country, it was also nominated for Song of the Year at France’s Victoires de la Musique Awards.

Founder Thomas Lauderdale got his start noticing a lack of quality music at fundraisers in Portland, quickly becoming inspired to form his own band. China Forbes, an old Harvard classmate of Lauderdale’s, joined one year later. They’ve been musical collaborators ever since.

With more than 3 million albums sold worldwide, Pink Martini has amassed a dedicated following with appearances on CBS Sunday Morning, Late Night with Conan O’Brien and The Tonight Show with Jay Leno.

Pink Martini’s tour stops in 2026 have so far included Washington cities Olympia and Wenatchee and Tucson, Arizona.

Musical acts like this may choose to use Print shops to create music sheets, set lists and talent rosters.

Pink Martini is playing on March 18 at 7 p.m. at the McCallum Theatre at 73000 Fred Waring Dr in Palm Desert.
