Palm Desert to teach head drawings

Aspiring artists in Palm Desert can attend a class at the Artists Center at the Galen to learn how to create pictures of human heads.

Drawing & Painting the Human Head is a two-day workshop where students learn art techniques to help them grow more confident as artists. The class teaches artists about the structure and proportions of a human head. Other topics covered in the course include shading and drawing heads at an angle. Participants will get to make at least one painting of a friend or family member. Materials for the lessons must be brought by the students.

The artist teaching the workshop is Jessica Schiffman, a painter and muralist with over 25 years of experience making art. She has also illustrated children's Books. Her work has been exhibited at venues like the Artize Galleries in Palm Springs and the Desert Art Center. Schiffman studied at the San Francisco Art Institute and teaches several workshops. Her classes include Basic Drawing, Painting in Oil and/or Acrylic, and Plein Air Painting.

The art course will be held on Saturday, March 23rd and Sunday, March 24th. The lessons will last from 9:00am until 4:00pm. The cost of Schiffman's workshop is $280 per person, though students and members of the Artists Center can receive a discount. Art instructors who teach similar lessons may rely on business card printing to make cards they can give to their workshop guests.
