The California Senior Games Association will be kicking off its competition series with a festival in Palm Desert.
The 2023 Palm Desert Senior Games & International Sports Festival is an event where those 35 and above can compete in individual and team sports. The fest will include solo challenges such as golfing, table tennis, and pickleball. This year, the team sporting events will consist of soccer, softball, volleyball, and beach volleyball. The festival will be held at various locations across Palm Desert, including the tennis courts at the town’s civic center and the Hovley Soccer Complex.
The California Senior Games Association is a group that was formed in 1992 to fulfill the National Senior Games Association’s requirement of each state having a group responsible for coordinating their state championships. The current chair of the organization’s board members is Anne Warner Cribbs, and Brooks Esser is the group’s secretary. People and businesses can show their support for senior games by sponsoring or donating to the association.
The sports festival and competition for seniors will be held from January 30 to February 5. Those interested in registering for the games can pay $8 per event. Participants must register online or have their mail-in registration form postmarked by January 27. State associations that organize festivals such as this may use banner printing to promote their games to the community.
