Palm Desert race to help the homeless

Martha’s Village and Kitchen will be holding a race in Palm Desert to fund its programs for the homeless.

The Fortem Financial Thanksgiving Day 5K is an annual fundraiser where people can help those in need fight food insecurity. Participants may choose to join the race in person or complete it virtually. The event will include a Festival Row consisting of exhibition booths, a photo station, and a stall that gives refreshments to dogs. Children can also enjoy activities at the race, such as getting their faces painted, hula hooping, and completing crafts projects.

Martha’s Village and Kitchen is an organization that assists the homeless population in Coachella Valley and Riverside County. The group’s Emergency Housing Residential Facility contains 120 beds and has helped 90% of its residents find safe, permanent housing. More than 6,000 adults and children receive nutritional meals from the organization. People can also take adult education courses through the group and get assistance with career development.

The in-person 5K will be held on Thursday, November 24th and will begin at 8:00 am. The registration cost ranges from $35 to $45. People may help Martha’s Village and Kitchen with its cause by donating food, clothing, or money to the organization. Charitable groups that coordinate activities such as this may use flyer printing to make sure locals are aware of the events.
