Palm Desert art center to give painting course

Those in Palm Desert looking to improve their painting skills can attend a course in April at The Artists Center at the Galen.

Watercolor, Words, and Mosaic with Karin Harris is a workshop that teaches students how to make mosaic-style still-life paintings. The class shows participants how watercolor paintings can have stained glass effects. The instructor will also help attendees create a haiku to write on their creations. People of all experience levels may partake in the workshop. Students are asked to wear N95 or KN95 masks at all times while in the art center.

Karin Harris is a talented artist who earned a BFA from Southern Oregon State University and once taught at Marylhurst College. Harris is inspired by the illumination of light and shadows and aims to capture those elements in her work. She also used to lead tours to Europe and Mexico. Harris currently teaches art classes in the Coachella Valley. Instructors like her can use flyer printing to advertise their art lessons to more students.

The painting course will take place on Saturday, April 16 from 10:00 am to 12:30 pm. Admission to the lesson will cost $48 for members of the Artists Council ad $65 for non-members. All guests must bring their own materials to the workshop. Students can contact the instructor to request a kit to purchase for the course.
