New taco fest coming to Palm Desert

The Taco Titan restaurant has announced that it will be holding its first ever Taco Empire Mexican Food Festival this December.

The festival will aim to put a twist on the traditional taco, with all dishes being entirely vegan. There will be vendors offering plant-based takes on traditional Mexican dishes such as tacos, burritos, and quesadillas, as well as other international cuisines. Confirmed participating restaurants are Yaquizien Kitchen, Fruit Bat, and Vegan It Should Bee. There will also be a number of gift and craft vendors for those looking for last-minute holiday presents, with an eye towards celebrating Mexican culture and sustainable living.

Restaurants and other sellers will be selected through an online application process, with the goal of highlighting homegrown flavour and unique items. Vendors can also participate in the Taco Crown Tournament. A panel of taco lovers will sample the offerings and crown the tastiest dish, with a $1,000 cash prize for the winner. The festival is meant to build the profile of Taco Titan, which holds pop-up events and provides catering throughout the Coachella Valley. Marketplace events allow restaurants to win over long-term customers with Business Cards and Menus. Promotional material emphasizes the connection with Mexican and Mayan traditions, stating that the festival is:

“Honoring the past, creating the future 🌮 🌱 Join us, as we blend ancient traditions with vegan innovation.”

The 2024 Taco Empire Mexican Food Festival will take place at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park on the afternoon of Saturday, December 21.
