Festival celebrating wildflowers returns to Palm Desert

The Coachella Valley Wildflower Festival is returning to Palm Desert as part of a tradition that has lasted more than a decade.

The day-long celebration brings together wildfire displays, educational opportunities for children, informational booths, a raffle, and live music. There are shopping opportunities from local artisans, food and beverage vendors, and even a large interactive Kids’ Zone.

The family-friendly event also has a full market, a wine and beer garden for adults, and a youth art contest with the theme “Naturally Inspired.” Vendors at public festivals like these may choose to use banner printing to attract customers to their business.

The organizer of the event is Friends of the Desert Mountains, who said the festival is designed to help promote:

“…environmental stewardship, land conservancy, and an appreciation of our fine Desert Mountains.”

According to its website, the non-profit organization is an official partner of the Santa Rosa and San Jacinto Mountains National Monument and works to help foster a sustainably integrated community with the Coachella Valley's natural environment. It also works with a number of other public agencies in its mission, including the Bureau of Land Management, the U.S. Forest Service, the Historical Society of Palm Desert, and the City of Palm Desert.

The 13th annual Coachella Valley Wildfire Festival is happening on Saturday, March 1 from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm at the Palm Desert Civic Center Park at 43900 San Pablo Avenue. The event is free to attend.
